NextGen at the TMA Conference
The TMA Conference was every bit as inspiring as it promised to be. Not only did the excellent speaker line up ‘Educate, Inspire & Entertain’ as the programme suggested, but it was also fascinating to learn more about the strength and depth of the ‘Big Tent’ that is the global community of the TMA.
Of course, the conference provides an excellent opportunity to meet up with great friends, but it achieved so much more. The spotlight on the incredible emerging talent in the industry and the opportunity to hear the great contributions from the NextGen panel were superb. This is absolutely how it should be – the NextGen have a voice and we are listening!
Technology was also a major theme running through the conference as a golden thread and Jenny Oldfield, founder and CEO of Veritas Commercial Services hinted at exciting new developments at the cutting edge of ‘Credit Tech’ as well as emphasising the vital importance of investment in the next generation of turnaround professionals:
“Veritas Commercial Services is a Credit Management company that employs a network of credit controllers throughout the UK, providing virtual credit control services to corporates. The clients are not just gaining a credit controller but a whole team of credit management expertise. We have also developed a bespoke technology platform for the credit controllers to use and we went to India to get our’s coded.”
“The advantage of developing in India is that you get the opportunity to go out and meet your supplier and I have just come back from Mumbai. If you have never been to Mumbai then I would highly recommend it. It is an experience, with the noise, the colours, the vibrancy of the country. One of the things that struck me the most was that everyone I spoke to who lived in Mumbai believed that education made a real difference to peoples’ lives there. It is this belief in education and training that we have as a foundation for the team at Veritas.”
“We work hard to train our credit controllers to be the very best and to inspire them to enjoy the thrill of the chase in collection of cash – because there is nothing better! The TMA also recognises the importance of investment in the next generation of turnaround professionals. So it is with this in mind that we are delighted to be the sponsors of the TMA UK NextGen Professional of the Year Award and special congratulations go to James Parkinson of RSM, the very worthy winner.”
We look forward with anticipation to the next TMA Conference and to seeing you there!Back
